Join NowCharlotte Tilbury fans were sent into a frenzy on Monday morning after an apparent internal email was sent to the company’s mailing list detailing a “secret product” set to be released soon.
The email, supposedly sent by Tilbury herself, was a response to the brand’s director of scientific development, Jonathan Reynolds, and the wider team with clinical trial results for a new product launch. Fans of the brand now believe that, instead of an error, the email was a marketing ploy ahead of the product’s launch.
Social media executive Maya Bundy, from Liverpool in the U.K., shared to a video to TikTok after being shocked she fell for the tactic—despite working in marketing herself. She explained: “I work in marketing, and even I fell for this a little bit.
“Charlotte Tilbury have just sent out an email that looks like it was supposed to be internal and go to the team, but they’ve accidentally sent it out to customers
to announce a new product. Like, a secret product.”
Charlotte Tilbury has responded after a ‘leaked’ internal email went viral earlier this week. A marketing executive from the UK explained why even she fell for the suspected marketing tactic.

Bundy took the video’s 109,000 viewers through the email, which included a secret waiting list recipients could sign up to for first access when the product drops. Bundy continued: “I think it’s so clever. It even looks like there’s a forward from
their scientific developer. It’s just telling you all the results of the new product.
And they’ve even added a little send to try to recall this message.”
Fans are still guessing what the product could be, although the email revealed some key details. Part of the brand’s foundation category, it’s suspected to work as a skincare/makeup hybrid, with details of the clinical trial results and the name “Unreal Skin.”
The trial results revealed it instantly smooths and plumps skin, with long-term results of firmness and elasticity.
Speaking to Newsweek about why she suspects the email to be part of the product’s marketing campaign, Bundy said: “I saw the subject line and felt sorry for whoever had done it. When I clicked on it and saw the images and the layout of it and realized they were all linked and imbedded and also thought the results were a bit too emphasized to be an internal email, so figured it must be a clever way of getting people to sign up.”
The tactic worked, as she admitted: “I get quite a few emails off Charlotte Tilbury but that’s the only one that grabbed me and got me to actually open it so it did its job.”
Newsweek reached out to Charlotte Tilbury for comment on the leaked email. The brand responded: “Our lips are sealed… but we hope you enjoyed getting a sneak peek of our next big product launch and some of its incredible smoothing and plumping effects from the clinical trial results – we think it’s UNREAL!”
The brand has since shared teaser content to its social media accounts, but for now darlings, it seems like we’ll have to wait.
